At the 21st APACC Annual Gala in Detroit, Stella Michael, Chairman of the West Michigan Asian American Association (WMAAA), delivered remarks.
Stella Michael, who is also the Director of Information Services at Spectrum Health, expressed her excitement about being with AAPI communities from both the east and west sides of Michigan. She emphasized the importance of working together to achieve more, as the challenges faced by AAPI communities are quite similar. One of the major challenges currently is combating anti-Asian hate, and she highlighted the need to raise awareness about Asian culture and its community impact. She called for collective efforts to break down barriers, promote equity, and inclusivity, ensuring that AAPI communities feel a sense of belonging in Michigan.
