As we usher in the Year of the Snake, the city of Detroit gears up for an unforgettable evening of culture, community, and basketball at the 2025 Community-Wide Lunar New Year Celebration. Partnered with the Detroit Pistons, this landmark event will take place on January 31, 2025, at the iconic Little Caesars Arena.
A Night to Celebrate Unity and Culture
Honoring Community Excellence
The celebration kicks off at 5:00 PM with a Pregame Ceremony that shines a spotlight on individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community. This recognition celebrates their impact, dedication, and commitment to fostering a better society.

Spectacular Cultural Showcase
At 6:30 PM, prepare to be mesmerized by a Center Court Performance that presents the richness of Chinese and Asian cultural traditions. Through music, dance, and art, the performance encapsulates the spirit and essence of the Lunar New Year. Following the performance, participants can join the High Five Tunnels and become Anthem Buddies—a unique chance to engage with the Pistons players as they prepare for the game.
Thrilling Basketball Action
The evening reaches its crescendo at 7:00 PM when the Detroit Pistons take on the Dallas Mavericks. This exciting matchup promises to be an exhilarating conclusion to a night filled with celebration and cultural exchange. Fans will also have the exclusive opportunity to step onto the Pistons Court after the game to shoot a free throw!
